JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management and oversight of preventive dental, diagnostic treatment and referral care rendered by Center. Accountable for the management, delivery and quality of all Center provided dental care services. Work cooperatively and effectively with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Associate Medical Director (AMD) to ensure overall health care delivery meets Patient Centered Medical Home standards, HRSA standards, and other measurements of quality care, patient safety and patient satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minimum encounters: 2,522 per year (or 10 per day) or (212 per month)
Patient Health History
Vital Signs (height, weight, blood pressure)
Radiography
Dental lab procedures
Chart Organization, Retrieval, Filing
Patient Appointment Scheduling
Clinical protocols
Patient Dental Health Education
Dental Exams
Medical Record charting
Dental procedures primary & preventive care (extractions, root canals, sealants)
Chairside preventive, periodontic, restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic and oral surgery procedures
Preparation of patient for medical exam
EKG (ECG)
Referrals to specialists
Setting up procedure trays
Treatment plans
Dental instrument sterilization and storage
Supply ordering, stocking inventory maintenance
Dental coding & price maintenance
Daily Operations Management
Assist with grant application submissions
Quality reporting of dental activities to Chief Medical Officer/Associate Medical Director
Collaboration with other department chairs
Dental staff supervision
Dental staff evaluation
Staff scheduling
Equipment & supply purchasing in coordination with Chief Medical Officer/Associate Medical Director
Prescribe appropriate medications
Serve as preceptor when necessary
Participate in a team based model of care that promotes coordination of care for our patients. Care is patient-centered and follows evidence-based guidelines.
EVALUATION:
The evaluation of work performance is ongoing and will be performed by the CMO and/or AMD. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude, general working behavior, and ability to interact constructively with the clinical and administrative staff. Formal evaluations will normally be performed annually; but may be initiated at other times by the CMO or AMD.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondence and routine reports. Ability to communicate and interact effectively in person and via telephone with fellow employees, patients, and family members from various educational and socio-economic backgrounds. Must be able to make clear and concise oral and written presentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate percentages, use basic computational math.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, initiatives, and projects. Proofread documents. Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPETENCY/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Competency required in the areas of communication, excellent verbal and written skills. Must be able to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Previous experience in operation of office machinery: Personal Computer, copier, FAX, postage machine, printers, phone switchboards and other auxiliary computer equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from accredited dental school with DDS or DMD
Current Unrestricted Texas Dental License; TSBDE Radiology Certificate
Read/Write/Speak English; Spanish a plus; computer usage
CPR Certificate, BLS Certificate; Current DEA, DPS

FFHC – Inspired Vision Academy Secondary is located at 8501 Bruton Road, Dallas, TX 75217.
Each office is operated under the Federally Qualified Health Center status and continues to maintain partial funding by Section 330 (e) funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Community Health Center grant.
