Following a $216 million capital investment by LCMC Health, East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) is rapidly transitioning into a quaternary academic hub. Anchored by a strategic partnership with Tulane University School of Medicine, EJGH serves as the primary clinical home for advanced heart failure, VAD, and heart transplant services.
We are seeking a Senior Director of Operations, Heart & Vascular Services to serve as the administrative architect for EJGH’s advanced heart failure and complex cardiovascular and interventional programs.
This high-visibility leader will report directly to a dynamic and supportive Chief Nursing & Quality Officer, with a strategic dotted line to the LCMC Health VP of Cardiology.
Core Strategic Goals
Operationalize "Destination" Services: Bridge the operational gap between academic faculty and community providers to support the region’s newest center for advanced heart failure, VAD, and transplant therapies
Scale High-Acuity Programs: Rapidly expand the newly accredited VAD program and structural heart offerings while maintaining EJGH’s status as the only hospital in Greater New Orleans with the ACC HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence.
Master the "Heart Team" Model: Formalize a multidisciplinary collaborative unit integrating Interventionalists, Surgeons, and Radiologists into a unified, high-functioning ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Capacity & Throughput: Oversee the complex scheduling and operational flow of multiple Interventional Suites and Hybrid ORs, masterfully balancing high-volume elective structural cases with emergent, life-saving transplant supports such as ECMO and Impella.
Financial Stewardship: Direct a significant multi-million dollar revenue budget and comprehensive capital plan, driving growth in contribution margins through strategic supply chain optimization and data-driven business cases for program expansion.
Clinical Competency: Design a tiered "Elite Skills Architecture" and on-going training schedule to ensure the clinical staff maintains verifiable mastery in high-acuity interventions.
Strategic Growth: Lead regional outreach and referral source development to expand EJGH’s footprint as a premier Heart and Vascular Center of Excellence.
The Ideal Candidate
Education: BSN (if RN) or Bachelor’s in Healthcare/Business (non-RN); Master’s (MHA/MBA/MSN) strongly preferred.
Experience: 6–10+ years in Cardiovascular services (including interventional) with 3–5+ years in high-acuity executive leadership.
Clinical IQ: Mastery of hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical circulatory support; specialized experience in VAD or Transplant programs is a distinct advantage.
