Position Overview
After 33 years of exceptional service, UBH’s Vice President of Services will be retiring. The incoming VP of Physician Services will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of all physician services across UBH’s hospital and clinic network. This position will focus on physician recruitment, retention, engagement, and performance while ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care across the region. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of healthcare leadership, including experience managing physician services, particularly in rural or community healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the strategic vision for physician services, aligning with the overall goals and mission of UBH.
Physician Recruitment & Retention: Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain a skilled and diverse group of physicians to meet the healthcare needs of the Uintah Basin, including the maintenance and fulfillment of UBH’s medical staff development plan.
Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of UBH’s hospital, clinics, and other physician-related services, ensuring efficiency, financial performance, and the highest standards of care.
Physician Engagement: Cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages physician engagement, aligns organizational and provider incentives, professional development, and alignment with organizational goals.
Quality Improvement: Champion continuous improvements in clinical quality, patient safety, and care outcomes, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the budget for physician services, ensuring financial responsibility and the allocation of resources in alignment with organizational priorities.
Collaboration: Work closely with hospital leadership, nursing teams, and other clinical staff to foster a cohesive, patient-centered approach to healthcare delivery.
Innovation & Program Growth: Identify opportunities to expand services, improve operational efficiency, and implement innovative solutions to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Uintah Basin communities.
Qualifications
Education: A Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Healthcare Leadership Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing physician services or similar functions, particularly in rural or community healthcare settings.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, drive organizational change, and promote a positive, high-performance culture.
Clinical Knowledge: Deep understanding of clinical operations, physician engagement strategies, and healthcare quality and safety standards.
Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
Communication: Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including physicians, staff, and community leaders.
Preferred Skills/Attributes
Experience in rural healthcare settings or managing physician services in hospitals with a similar size and scope.
Proven success in physician recruitment, retention, and engagement.
Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience managing large budgets and driving cost-effective initiatives.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, community-focused healthcare environment.
