Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Day / Evening (Main Campus)
Day and evening Clinical Staff Pharmacists provide direct patient care across a variety of inpatient units, including medicine, surgery, critical care, and specialty services. Responsibilities include order verification, pharmacokinetic dosing, antimicrobial stewardship support, discharge counseling, and participation in multidisciplinary rounds where applicable. This role involves rotating day and evening shifts, shared weekends, and holiday coverage as part of a cohesive team.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Midnights (Main Campus)
Midnight Clinical Staff Pharmacists support 24/7 operations for our regional referral and Level 1 trauma center. Overnight responsibilities include prospective order review and verification, sterile compounding oversight, emergent medication support for ED and critical care, and collaboration with nursing and medical staff to ensure safe, timely medication therapy. This position rotates through midnight shifts with a focus on autonomy, critical thinking, and efficient workflow.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Midnights, 7-on / 7-off (Main Campus)
This midnight 7-on / 7-off position offers a block schedule while practicing in a high acuity inpatient environment. Pharmacists in this role provide comprehensive overnight pharmacy services, including order verification, code and rapid response support, TPN and anticoagulation management, and troubleshooting medication related issues throughout the hospital. The schedule is designed for those who prefer a consistent week on / week off rotation.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Day / Evening (Main Campus)
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist I Day / Evening role is ideal for pharmacists who enjoy a mix of order verification and decentralized clinical responsibilities. Pharmacists support medication use across assigned units, answer drug information questions, collaborate with providers on therapy optimization, and participate in quality and safety initiatives. Shifts rotate between days and evenings with shared weekend and holiday responsibilities.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Crystal Spring Tower, Day / Evening
Crystal Spring Tower Day / Evening pharmacists support our ambulatory and outpatient focused services based in the tower setting. Responsibilities include verifying orders, supporting infusion and procedural areas, coordinating transitions of care, and working closely with physicians and nurses in clinic adjacent environments. The schedule includes day and evening shifts with occasional weekend coverage based on service needs.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist – Crystal Spring Tower, Nights
Crystal Spring Tower Night pharmacists provide overnight coverage for tower based services, including verification of medication orders, support for evening and night infusion or procedural needs, and collaboration with main campus pharmacy and clinical teams. This role offers the chance to work more independently while still being integrated into a larger pharmacy team.

What We Require (All Roles):

Education: Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Experience: Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent Hospital experience is preferred

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire. During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained. If the license is not obtained within 90 days of employment, the employee may be subject to separation from Carilion Clinic.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess good leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures including computer and keyboarding skills.
