This senior leadership role is designed for a highly experienced healthcare administrator with a proven track record in managing complex academic, research-oriented, and clinical services within a dynamic hospital system. The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction, operational excellence, and growth initiatives of the neurology department across multiple hospital campuses and outpatient clinics. The Administrator for Neurology will serve as the primary executive responsible for overseeing all administrative, operational, and strategic functions within the Department of Neurology. Reporting directly to the Department Chair, this key leadership role acts as a strategic partner, collaborating with Vice Chairs, Program Directors, faculty, clinicians, research staff, and administrative teams. The successful candidate will drive initiatives that align with the organization’s mission to deliver state-of-the-art neurological care, expand academic and research programs, and foster interdepartmental collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans to grow clinical services, faculty recruitment, and academic programs.
Promote innovative initiatives that enhance service offerings, patient access, and community outreach to meet regional neurological healthcare needs.
Lead efforts to establish partnerships with community-based organizations and other healthcare providers to expand service delivery.
Oversee daily administrative operations across multiple clinical and research sites, ensuring seamless integration of inpatient, outpatient, and research activities.
Manage clinical workflow efficiencies, patient flow, and resource allocation, including staffing, facilities, and technology infrastructure.
Collaborate with physicians and clinicians to optimize clinical schedules, service lines, and patient satisfaction metrics.
Develop, monitor, and oversee departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
Manage revenue cycle operations, including billing, coding, reimbursement, and collections.
Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost containment, and operational efficiency improvements.
Lead recruitment processes for faculty, physicians, research staff, and administrative personnel.
Facilitate faculty development programs, performance evaluations, and staff engagement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, licensing standards, and accreditation requirements.
Oversee the administration of research activities, including clinical trials, grants, and regulatory compliance.
Support faculty in research development, grant submissions, and scholarly publications.
Facilitate educational initiatives and ensure the integration of academic missions with clinical operations.
Maintain strict adherence to healthcare regulations, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
Lead quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and process optimization projects.
Implement data-driven metrics to monitor departmental performance and identify areas for enhancement.
Oversee planning and implementation of facilities upgrades, technology adoption, and capital projects pertinent to neurology services.
Collaborate with hospital administration and IT departments to ensure robust technological infrastructure supports clinical and research needs.
Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement among faculty, staff, and partners.
Represent the department at institutional meetings, community forums, and professional associations.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the healthcare system to improve patient care pathways and outcomes.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an advanced degree such as a Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA), MBA, or PhD is preferred.
At least 10 years of progressive healthcare management experience, with significant prior responsibility in academic medical centers or multi-site healthcare organizations.
Demonstrated success in managing complex clinical operations, research administration, financial oversight, and strategic planning.
Experience in neurology or neurosciences is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration, and drive organizational change.
Strong financial acumen, with hands-on experience managing budgets, revenue cycle, and operational metrics.
Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners.
