This pharmacist will work either as an ICU pharmacist (in the Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU) or an Emergency Medicine pharmacist at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.
ICU pharmacists participate in multidisciplinary rounds primarily in the Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU (approx. 75% of the time), and less frequently in other ICUs (approx. 25% of the time), rotating with the other ICU pharmacists to help maintain a diverse clinical skillset.
Emergency Medicine pharmacists provide care during trauma alerts, stroke alerts, cardiac arrests, rapid sequence intubations, and other medical emergencies in the Emergency Department.
Work with and help educate attending physicians, medical residents, advance practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, and dieticians.
Promotes antimicrobial stewardship in the critical care environment.
Participates in the evaluation and analysis of clinical data, medication use, drug and drug class monographs, policy review, and order set development in support of clinical toolkit maintenance.
Reviews medication orders to ensure appropriateness of drugs ordered, dosage, route and interactions. Adjusts medications dosage/schedule as appropriate for patient condition as per policy. Consults resources in clarifying unfamiliar or questionable orders.
Assists the department in addressing physician consults as needed. Provides timely retrieval of reliable drug information from available sources.
Ensures medications are safely dispensed to patients in accordance with age specific guidelines. Follows appropriate procedures for the sterile preparation of IV admixtures in compliance with USP 797/800 standards.
Communicates and interacts with patients, families and others in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner.
Assists in providing department education at all levels (students, residents, and new employees).
Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

Requirements
Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education.
BS or Pharm.D degree.
Current Florida Pharmacist License or License eligible.
Completion of a PGY2 in critical care (preferred) or equivalent critical care experience.
Board certified in critical care or pharmacotherapy preferred.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is a 323-bed hospital, with 75 critical care beds and four adult ICUs: Medical, Trauma/Surgical, Cardiovascular, and Neuro. HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is an ACS Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and an ELSO accredited ECMO center.
